The Rules and regulations (pdf)

Library card and PIN code

You can get a library card by presenting a valid personal identification document with a photograph, and by pledging yourself to follow the library rules. The first library card is free of charge. If you are under 15 years old, you need a guardian’s written consent to get a library card.

Registration form (pdf)

You are responsible for any material that is borrowed with your library card. The guardian is responsible for the borrowed material of a person who is under 15 years old.

If you wish, you can use the electronic library card found on our web library instead of a physical library card. You can open the library card on your mobile device and use the barcode for borrowing. You can get the barcode by logging in and opening an Own Account menu and choosing the Library Card section.

Please also notify the library if your contact information changes.

A PIN code consists of four numbers. You can get a PIN code from the library. You need the PIN code when you use our web library, and when you use the self-service facilities downstairs outside opening hours.

Loans and reservations

You can borrow physical material and e-material from the Leppävirta municipal library. The loan period for the borrowed material varies from 1 to 28 days depending on the material. Loan period expires when the library closes on the due date. You cannot borrow movies and videogames if you are not old enough.

You can renew your loans maximum of 10 times if the loans do not have any reservations. The library also has material that cannot be renewed, such as quick loans. You can renew your loans on our web library, via phone call or in the Leppävirta municipal library with the help of a librarian.

You must always return your loans on the due date at the latest. You can borrow and return material independently with the self-service borrowing and returning machine upstairs and borrow material independently with the self-service borrowing machine downstairs. There are two so-called returning boxes in the Leppävirta municipal library: one next to the exterior door upstairs and the other downstairs in the newspaper reading room. The loans returned to the returning box will be registered as returned on the next working day. The returning by the returning box is at customer’s own risk.

You can subscribe to email notifications for reminders about upcoming due dates. However, the library cannot affect the interruption in data communication, which is why the library is not responsible if the loans are overdue because you did not get a reminder.

You can reserve material in the Leppävirta municipal library or on our web library. When the reserved material can be collected, you will be informed via email, text message or by a letter. The notification includes a personal reservation number. The same number can be found on your reserved material, so you can independently collect your reservations from the reservation cart. You can collect your reservations during self-service hours downstairs, where you can independently borrow it with the self-service borrowing machine. Reserving material is free. If you fail to collect your reservations, a fee of 2,10 € will be charged. Collecting period lasts for 7 days, and in the mobile library for 14 days.

If the library does not have the material you would like to borrow, you can fill in an acquisition request.
